Why Tiger Sharks?

http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb172/StillPoor/TigerShark.jpg

So why was the Tiger Shark chosen as our mascot?

According to the former principal, students were given the opportunity to choose a mascot several years ago and selected the Tiger Shark through an election process. As I begin to review all of the traditions and symbols of our school, it has become clear to me how powerful and inspiring our mascot can be...

Just like sharks, we want all our students to be strong, independent, intelligent and able to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world.

So, I need your help. What are other characteristics of sharks that make them a good mascot for a school?

Well, sharks must keep moving forward to breathe and therefore survive. So that is like WLMS!

nice blog. we love tiger sharks. many sharks are today endangered, and the tiger shark is victim to many sports fishing trophy hunters. as the tiger shark is your mascot, why not get your school involved in their conservation.

The shark is an excellent mascot; most of all, it's cool and looks good on a jacket!

I agree with Mark; get your school involved in shark conservation. The sharks need all the help they can get, and if they get killed off, so do we.

What a great blog, and a great choice of mascot. Another reason that a shark is a good mascot for a school is that they are intelligent and learn very fast. Its very hard to keep up with them since they try to be a step ahead of you when you are trying to do something that interests them. But they are not agressive, contrary to common opinion, and live in harmony in their oceanic community of countless other amazing creatures, just as each of us should learn to live in harmony in our multicultural world.

With good wishes,
Ila

GREAT BLOG! I agree with Scuba Diva--sharks look great on a jacket! I also like Mark's suggestion to have the children focus on conservation of sharks--what a great opportunity and lesson.

Other great reasons for having a shark as a mascot are the sharks are powerful, can work independently or in groups, and simply are awe inspiring.
