6th Graders Travel to NorthBay

Earlier this month, our 6th graders attended outdoor school at NorthBay located in Cecil County, Maryland. NorthBay is a premier environmental learning center, located at the top of the Chesapeake Bay, designed to expose students to phenomenal learning opportunities in a dynamic environment, where students can make enriching, and life changing decisions about who they want to become and how they will respond to life.

I had the pleasure of spending two days participating with some of my sixth graders in the activities that they were assigned to do (Zip Line, learning about clams and the high ropes course). During this time, I got to learn so much about my students and some really interesting information about the Bay.  I had such a great time and I truly appreciate all of the hard work Joanna Tanner, Laura Mettle, Emily Warner and the rest of the WLMS staff for making this trip possible. I also want to thank all of the parent volunteers for taking time out of their busy schedules to go with us!

6th Graders Travel to NorthBay!

This week, our 6th graders have been attending outdoor school at NorthBay located in Cecil County, Maryland. NorthBay is a premier environmental learning center, located at the top of the Chesapeake Bay, designed to expose students to phenomenal learning opportunities in a dynamic environment, where students can make enriching, and life changing decisions about who they want to become and how they will respond to life.

I have spent the past two days participating with some of my sixth grade students in the activities that they were assigned to do (Kayaking, Zip Line and learning about clams). During this time, I got to learn so much about my students and some really interesting information about the Bay.  I have had such a great time and I truly appreciate all of the hard work Mia Chiarella, Julie Berla, Joanna Tanner, Amy Musgrave and the rest of the WLMS staff for making this trip possible. I also want to thank all of the parent volunteers for taking time out of their busy schedules to go with us!

6th Graders Enjoy Outdoor Education Experience!

Last week, 170 sixth graders traveled to Darlington, Maryland to take part in our annual Outdoor Education Program. Along with our enthusiastic students, 15 talented staff members and 44 dedicated parents helped to make this year's trip one of the best ever! During the three day adventure, students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of classes (confidence course, nature walk, fishing, aquatics, art, creative writing, canoeing, tennis, volleyball and a few others) and experience various team building activities including: a dance, a talent show, a campfire and storytelling.

I want to commend Ms. Chiarella, Ms. Cheung, Ms. Fantz and Ms. Merson for doing such a great job organizing this trip. In addition, I want to thank all of the ELMS staff who taught the various classes and ran all of the activities. Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank all of the parents who volunteered to come with us. Without your support, we could not provide this special program for our students.

I am proud to report that the director of the camp told us that the staff, parents and students from ELMS are among the best groups they host each year.

"The students are well-behaved, appreciative and a pleasure to serve!"
